ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
ROOTS & ROUTES is published and maintained by L.C.Productions, Inc. with the help of our New York City interns. We welcome contributions from historians, teachers, writers and students of all ages.
WHAT WE'RE DOING
ROOTS & ROUTES is about family history, heritage travel and more. Our idea is to use the cultural connections, great migrations, settlements and symbolic landscapes of North America to inform these popular avocations and make them more meaningful. By promoting regional collaborations that cross political and professional boundaries, building on the learning opportunities inherent in family memories and community celebrations, and highlighting positive efforts to preserve the natural and built environment, we hope to ensure the pleasures we enjoy for future generations.
PROJECT HISTORY
The ROOTS & ROUTES website began in 1996 with a planning grant from the Connecticut Humanities Council Cultural Development Fund and the Frank Loomis Palmer Fund to commemorate the 350th Anniversary of New London, Connecticut. Since then, the website has gradually expanded to serve all of the continental United States.
